Back in April, when we held our pilod-meeutup for the Business League Residence by 2Performant, we stated our reasons: we’re doing these get-togethers because the community asked us to. And we listen to our community.
But here we are, capping off the second edition and we have come to realize a simple thing: it’s not only for the community. We’re doing this for us as well, because we love getting out and seeing the folks that make Business League the unique stage that it is. So there you go: it’s a selfish deed 😀
Jokes aside for a few paragraphs, this 2nd edition on August 1st took place at one of our favorite spots in Bucharest: Hidden – the social hub. It’s the one place you can find loads of books, guitars, tables to spare and hosts that will make you smile. Oh and cats.
We had a solid agenda throughout the whole day. But as any event planner will tell you, it’s not the presentations, it’s the people. And great people made it all work once more, showing us a glimpse of what’s to come: many more meetups in the future.
As usual, the intro & MC work were handled with skill and cheerful digs at the crowd by Tibi Anghelina. This guy can host a show! And say “vlog de improv” in 3896 different ways.
Horia Neagu is a SEO specialist and the owner of an agency called Napoleon.Digital. But unlike the small-legged French leader, Horia doesn’t retreat in the face of Google adversity. So he bravely tackled the main theme that we had open for debate: Everywhere, AI. What do we do with SEO? It was tough for Tibi to keep the presentation on schedule, as questions were flying in and CataR heckled Horia with good input. But they did their best.
Next up was a good friend of ours and a feisty Business League contender: Catalin Radu. Cata is a guy who aggregates (sic!) skill, experience, and creativity to climb the rankings in Business League while dribbling past Google’s relentless updates. Keep winning, man! His presentation talked about the ever-changing rules of the game that is Google and how this impacts a marketer like him. He’s stayed on top of his game for many years now, but we’ve also had a glance at how easily it can all turn to rubble: “Here & here is were I almost went bankrupt”, Cata said at one point pointing at the slides.
In the evening we had a debate that hopefully will stay with us for a while: Do you use AI for content/SEO? Does Google penalize us or not? Do we use an AI/human mix or just AI with well targeted prompts. It was perfect topic to get us going for the last part of the event: drinks and laughs.
This second meetup of ours was an excellent use of the season break. Thanks to all participants for coming, to Tibi & Tudor for leading the way with the event, and to our hosts at Hidden who can really put on a bbq show when it matters.
Let’s do this again sometime (in November)!
