Like every Business League participant, nevertebrate.ro started as a Newcomer. With a compelling story and a clear strategy, Marius Rotaru, the Founder & Managing Partner, shares their journey with openness and honesty.

No one remains a Newcomer forever in this competition. Gradually, nevertebrate.ro became a skilled and experienced player after winning their first round with over 270 sales. Not bad at all.

We sat down with Marius to learn more about their business and their affiliate marketing approach. Firstly, because we admire ambitious individuals, and secondly, because we are drawn to stores with a promising future.

From shrimp to affiliate management, here’s their story:

How did the story of nevertebrate.ro begin?

The store’s name is closely tied to our passion for aquarium shrimp and snails. In the fall of 2009, nevertebrate.ro came to life as a result of our desire to provide friends with access to products that were unavailable or hard to find in Romania at the time. What started as a weekend activity evolved, thanks to our dedication and care for our services, into a business where we became direct importers and distributors for some of the largest companies in aquaristics, and later, terrariums and ponds. We expanded our team to include enthusiasts from these fields.

Our showroom was born in response to customers’ desire to see products in person and interact with us. Our team grew, the online store went through several modernization stages, and our storage and display spaces also expanded. Today, we welcome customers in a chic store and offer a user-friendly website.

Why did you launch an affiliate program on Business League? What needs and objectives drove this decision?

We turned to the Business League affiliate program to reach more customers passionate about aquaristics and terrariums who had not yet heard of our store or needed encouragement to try our services. We previously tried self-promotion, but the results didn’t meet our expectations. We aim to expand our customer base and increase visibility, and the Business League program has proven to be an excellent tool.

In your first round, you made over 200 sales. How did you achieve this great start? What resources do you allocate to the program?

We tried to offer attractive deals and significant discounts to make it easier for affiliates to promote our store. Currently, we allocate financial resources and have one person managing the relationship with Business League.

How would you describe Business League in a single sentence?

A 100% profitable tool where you pay only for results.

What is the biggest business challenge you face at nevertebrate.ro?

The online market is quite crowded, and often, the services offered by online stores are of lower quality. The biggest issue is customer communication. Our current challenge is to maintain high service quality—communication, fast delivery, and excellent post-sale services—without raising prices unless absolutely necessary.

How does affiliate marketing in Business League compare to other sales channels?

For us, affiliate marketing through Business League has quickly become one of our top sales channels. We’re eager to analyze its impact over the long term, especially during the off-season.

Have you explored the 3 types of Challenges in Business League? What are your thoughts?

We participated in one challenge and finished in the top three. We plan to try again after better understanding them. They seem like an excellent, stimulating tool that could be a great way to boost sales.

What are the most important criteria when selecting partners/marketers in Business League?

For now, we’ve accepted everyone who applied to our program. The beauty and simplicity of the system lie in the fact that you pay only for results. Of course, we hope the most skilled affiliates join us, but we trust that if we do our job well, they will naturally come.

What do marketers look for in a partnership with a store, in your opinion?

Marketers likely seek a reliable store with good prices, fast order processing, and quick commission payouts. A higher commission is also a strong incentive.

The Affiliate Managers program helps stores grow faster with expert support. Thoughts?

It sounds great! We look forward to learning more and are open to collaboration. After analyzing the results, we’ll decide if it’s a viable option for us.

If you could give one piece of advice to new players exploring affiliate marketing/Business League, what would it be?

Try all the services and offer 100% support to your affiliates—you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

What are your plans for 2025, both in Business League and beyond?

We aim to improve our services and expand our product range and stock to meet all customer needs as both a retailer and wholesaler. We also plan to start reaching customers outside Romania.

We expect a turbulent period ahead, which makes long-term planning difficult. However, we won’t take our foot off the gas. Our advantage as a smaller store is our ability to adapt to changes and make decisions quickly.
