A new day, a new interview with those who made the Mentorship program in Business League truly promising. Today, Lucian Ionescu (klikads), Mentor and one of the best Marketers in the history of the competition.

We wanted to learn from Lucian what goals he set at the beginning of the program, how his Mentees performed, and what his future plans are—both as a Mentor and an experienced player in Business League. The result was a compact interview, full of insights and valuable information.

These are the last days to pre-register as a Mentor for the new Business League season starting next week. Don’t miss out!

How would you describe, in a few words, the first season in which you were a Mentor?

It was interesting, I enjoyed it, and it was as I imagined.

How did the selection process go for those who applied to you? What mattered most when you chose your team?

There weren’t that many Mentees who applied, so the selection was quite easy. I looked for a desire and curiosity to do marketing. I started with 7 Mentees. One dropped out after the interview, and another during the program.

What expectations did you have at the beginning, and to what extent were they met?

The Good: I started with the goal that at least one of them would surpass 500 sales per month and that the others would at least double their results. As it turned out, 2 of them exceeded expectations, and the rest grew more than double.

The Bad: Each of them received the same general information but did not progress at the same pace. I also organized an uninspired group challenge that turned out to be a fail.

All your Mentees have spoken highly of you. Tell us a sentence or two about each of them 🙂

  • Bogdan (MBM) – a very hardworking person who exceeded my expectations from the first interaction. He has an extraordinary ability to extract and apply information. Keep an eye on Bogdan; I don’t see him stopping here.
  • Beni (kREME) – a person with a highly developed sense of aesthetics in digital. He creates extraordinary websites and is very hardworking. At his age, I think this is just the beginning for him.
  • Claudiu (ClaudiuB.) – If I had to describe him: he’s someone who makes the most out of minimal resources and delivers decent results. If he focused more on technical aspects, he would grow significantly.
  • Emanuel (AffX) – The laid-back guy from Transylvania who doesn’t stress much but delivers extraordinary profit margins. He has a special talent for choosing advertisers that no one would bet on, yet he performs with them.
  • Iulian (Iulian.Gherghi) – A very technical person and, I believe, the one with the most potential among them. However, he’s slow to implement what he knows and lacks consistency.

How will you approach mentoring in the new season? What will you keep, and what will you change compared to the current season?

I received some feedback from the current Mentees, and I believe I will structure the lessons better, with a three-month calendar for group calls. I will keep the one-on-one calls as they were until now.

What are the objectives with the new Mentees? Will you set targets, KPIs, etc., together?

The goal is to help them achieve more sales and gain know-how. With each individual, we establish specific targets and an action plan.

There’s some reluctance among Business League players to enroll in the program. Why do you think that is?

The commission is too high.

Apart from the Mentorship program, what are your goals for the new season of Business League?

We aim to test new traffic methods this season and strengthen relationships with advertisers.

This week, you can still pre-register as a Mentor for the new Business League season.
