In Business League and in life, it’s good to have a mentor to guide you. Someone who has already done the work from start to finish and achieved results. If you see it as an expense, perhaps it would be wiser to view it as an investment.

On the other hand, if you feel you can help as a Mentor, you might congratulate yourself later. The new season of Mentorship begins soon in Business League, on December 2, 2024. That’s when Mentors and Mentees can form their teams. You can pre-register as a Mentor here if you believe you can help and want to get paid for your efforts.

To share firsthand stories from the first season of Mentorship, we sat down with several Mentors and Mentees who successfully experienced the program and achieved results.

The first on our list? Iulian Gherghi, a Start-Up enthusiast with big plans. His mentor? Lucian Ionescu, from Klikads.

Your beginnings in affiliate marketing. What do you remember about that period?

In 2017, I was looking to promote my own online shoe store. I happened to hear about affiliate marketing and generating sales through affiliation. Unfortunately, as a marketer, I wasn’t successful because I lacked the right mindset. I couldn’t grasp the idea of commission-based earnings.

Then, like any entrepreneur, I thought it was an opportunity to supplement my income. I understood the concept, made a WordPress site, added some content, and that was it. I expected immediate revenue. It wasn’t until seven months later, after I had almost forgotten about affiliation, that I earned my first commission. That reignited the flame.

What made you join the Mentorship program? What objectives did you have at the start, and how did they change along the way?

I want affiliate marketing to become my main business. Until now, I was stumbling through promotion methods. I thought a mentor could discipline me a bit through the processes they have and can share with me.

How did you choose your Mentor? Tell us about working with them.

I had known Lucian for some time. He had an initiative with 2P to hold some demo lessons promoting through Google Ads. After that event, I contacted him privately, and for 3-4 months, we worked one-on-one. It wasn’t successful only because the advertiser no longer allowed PPC, which ruined my budget.

In the Mentorship program, I chose him because I knew it would be the right choice. I wasn’t wrong. I am convinced no mentor has offered as many tools and insights for free as Lucian did. What does he teach us, really? To be true marketers. Through this mentorship, you can not only become a good affiliate but also grow as a freelancer. Whether you choose PPC, CSS, or SEO optimization on WordPress, Lucian teaches you. Efficient SEO optimization, creating landing pages, and designing UI structures that sell—there’s a lot to learn.

How would you describe your evolution as a player in Business League, before vs. after mentorship? Both in terms of tangible results in rankings and your learning process, progress, and know-how?

It’s simple. Before mentorship, I earned an average of 100 euros a month. During mentorship, 400-500 euros a month. I can’t boast about profits yet because I’m still in the investment phase, but the growth I’ve achieved through gaining knowledge is worth every penny.

The learning process is simple—through practice. We discuss the challenges we face, and then, together with other members or one-on-one, we resolve what we don’t know.

How would you evaluate the benefits of this program? What did Business League promise versus what happened “on the ground”?

The program is excellent. If it continues, Lucian would still be my mentor. I recommend everyone set aside their calculations and start gaining knowledge with the right mentor. The commission I pay is insignificant compared to what I receive from the Mentor.

What did BL/2P promise? Competition and fair play. Unfortunately, when it comes to fair play, 2P doesn’t excel. Why? Advertisers were restricted in the number of CSS specialists they could accept in their programs. I joined happily with CSS, but when it came time to optimize, I received a bombshell: “We no longer allow CSS, except for a limited number of affiliates based on the league.” This restriction disrupted me and caused financial loss. I was in the final stages of optimization when this access was blocked.

We’ve noticed some players are hesitant to join the program, even though their results suggest it could be a good idea. What do you think causes this hesitation, and what’s your opinion on it?

I’ve said it before. They don’t want to lose 25% of their commission. In my opinion, it’s worth it. A mentor of the caliber of those in the program would cost tens of thousands of euros monthly.

What advice would you give to a new player discovering BusinessLeague.com?

Invest. Invest time in learning and trying in the initial phase. Depending on the chosen method, also invest money in promotion. Many want to start, but when it comes to investment, they hesitate. They should consider it like opening a store—physical or online—tomorrow.

The investments are significant: an online platform, merchandise inventory, advertising. Investments that don’t guarantee profit. The same applies to affiliation, but the amounts required are certainly smaller.

What are your goals for the next season?

To reach the top 10.
